Get Creative to Snag Some Swag

Since I started Lindows back in 2001 - even before we had a product to sell - we've gotten emails from people asking us when they'd be able to get their hands on some genuine Linspire "swag" - bags, hats, shirts, and other Linspire gear. Some of the requests were pretty hard to implement (like the Linspire hot air balloon) andsome of them were downright weird (like the Michael Robertson bobblehead doll), but the general gist was that people out there wanted something to show their Linux pride even when away from their computer.

Well, after almost four years, we finally found the time to open up a store full of swag. However, among the hats, polo shirts, mugs, and

bags that are available, you'll find one crucial item is missing: a new Linspire t-shirt. So, we're holding a contest to see who can come up with the best t-shirt idea. The winner will have their t-shirt mass-produced and offered up for sale in our store, and will also win one of every Linspire item currently sold in the store. The first runner-up will get a Linspire backpack, and the second runner-up gets a Linspire polo. Don't worry if you're not the most creative kid in the class - every person who submits a t-shirt idea to the forum will be entered in a random drawing for one of five tee/hat combos. ( Read the official contest rules.)

Your idea could be funny, zany, philosophical or sarcastic; it could include a witty slogan or a stick-figure mock-up for a design. To enter the contest, post your t-shirt idea on this forum thread by midnight PDT on June 16, 2005. Linspire staffers will vote on the ideas, hold the drawing, and post the winners in the forum on June 17 (we'll also send an email to those who win). Remember, to post you have to be registered - if you don't already have an account you can sign up for a free account at my.linspire.com. Some of the ideas we've had so far:

  • Linspire Five-0... Ride the Wave (graphic: Tux on a surfboard)
  • Linspire: Kills Bugs on Contact (graphic: Linspire-brand bug spray)
  • Linspire: Always Up and Running (graphic: Running Man logo)

We're also planning on expanding our store in the near future - and we'd like to know what you'd like the next swagged item to be (Linspire press-on tattoos? Dog tags? Chia Pets? It's your call!) Take this brief survey and let us know your thoughts!
