Detoxification is all the rage but it's simply modern day snake oil. One of the detox prophets is Alejandro Junger. This smooth talker pushes his book and $425 three week plan. He's got celebrity endorsers, sciency-sounding words, and a few parlor tricks.
In Martha Stewart's break room he used a 'precipitator' device — two iron bars connected to electricity that when dunked in water make it murky with ferric oxide (rust). The sludge originates from the device he dunked in the water. Yet he declared the murkiness was 'prescription medications and anti-depressants.' Martha believed.
If detoxification was effective he wouldn't need shady sales techniques. Instead, there would be scientific studies demonstrating its effectiveness. Mr. Junger resists efforts to verify his treatment because it would be revealed as the scam it is. Insist on double blind tests.
