The byo.fm Experiment

Radio is stale and needs a digital overhaul. It hasn't advanced much beyond the AM dial. I started thinking about what would make the ultimate radio experience and here's what we came up with.

The ideal radio experience: listeners should be able to insert news, sports, and entertainment sources of their choosing. Users should feel connected to their community with regional information. Everyone has unique hobbies and their radio station should reflect this. Users should be able to look ahead to see upcoming segments, skip past unwanted ones, or replay interesting ones. And it should be available everywhere.

We call this experimental new service byo.fm — build your own radio station. If you've got a few minutes, you can create your own truly personalized radio. The days of being force-fed media by editors are over. Radio needs to go through the same digital transformation.

Hunting for the X-File Ghost

AI will soon rule the world. It will decide if you paid your taxes, qualify for a mortgage, whether your kid is admitted to university, if someone is eligible for parole, if you've been naughty on social media, etc. EVERYTHING. But what happens if it's WRONG? Here's an unbelievable and ominous situation where a cybersecurity company publishes a report stating an American company was part of a Chinese cybercriminal organization. The story spread around the world. One enormous problem: the software they claim as evidence doesn't exist, but nobody bothered to research it. No news site. No security companies. Nobody. Well, I decided to research it, and here's my results.
