Google's Android will quickly overtake Apple's iPhone market share. It may seem outlandish given Apple has sold 65 million iPhones, but we've seen this movie before. I'm referring to the original Macintosh which was superior in nearly every way but lost the PC war to Windows. Apple's insistence on control will turn the business world into competitors.
Android's advantages over iPhone have nothing to do with hardware differences but are due to Apple's restrictive policies. The Airband MP3tunes app took four months to get approved while the Android app was available ten seconds after submission. Apple blocks what outside developers can do because they wish to control the entire iTunes experience. Blocking developers ultimately means less choice and functionality for users.
I've been using a Nexus One as my primary phone. There's much to like: turn by turn navigation, voice transcription, automatic wireless syncing, and the ability to run multiple programs at once. But ultimately Apple's insistence on centralized planning will be the pivotal decision that opens the door for Android to capture majority market share.
