Here's My Mobile Number

Michael's Minute has been quiet for awhile because it took enormous work to sell Gizmo5 to Google. I'm proud of the accomplishment. As I've gotten to know Google I've found it to be an astounding place loaded with brain power and ambition.

Today the Gizmo5 team is part of Google Voice. Google Voice offers a free US number that can ring anywhere, send/receive SMS, send voicemail as text, and more. One of its many benefits is caller screening — GV politely informs me of the caller's name so I have the option to answer or let it go to voicemail.

I take security very seriously — I've had stalkers that required FBI arrests. Still, you can't let fear drive your life and wall yourself off. Using the new screening features of Google Voice, I'm even more accessible because I can use technology to manage my voice connections. So here is my mobile number: 858-344-6911.

Hunting for the X-File Ghost

AI will soon rule the world. It will decide if you paid your taxes, qualify for a mortgage, whether your kid is admitted to university, if someone is eligible for parole, if you've been naughty on social media, etc. EVERYTHING. But what happens if it's WRONG? Here's an unbelievable and ominous situation where a cybersecurity company publishes a report stating an American company was part of a Chinese cybercriminal organization. The story spread around the world. One enormous problem: the software they claim as evidence doesn't exist, but nobody bothered to research it. No news site. No security companies. Nobody. Well, I decided to research it, and here's my results.
