OpenSky 2.0 SIP for Skype

I've been a vocal advocate for open standards both in music with MP3.com and in VOIP with Gizmo5. Open standards always give consumers more choices and better value. This week got a huge boost with two announcements.

Gizmo5 launched OpenSky, its SIP for Skype service that lets any SIP device call Skype and receive Skype calls. eBay also announced an upcoming Skype for SIP service. These announcements are a huge boost for SIP as the open standard for calls.

For those seeking to link the SIP and Skype worlds today, OpenSky is affordable and capable. It's great to see Skype inching towards a more interoperable world. Anyone in the Skype world can call me at michaelGizmo5 and it will ring my SIP devices.

Hunting for the X-File Ghost

AI will soon rule the world. It will decide if you paid your taxes, qualify for a mortgage, whether your kid is admitted to university, if someone is eligible for parole, if you've been naughty on social media, etc. EVERYTHING. But what happens if it's WRONG? Here's an unbelievable and ominous situation where a cybersecurity company publishes a report stating an American company was part of a Chinese cybercriminal organization. The story spread around the world. One enormous problem: the software they claim as evidence doesn't exist, but nobody bothered to research it. No news site. No security companies. Nobody. Well, I decided to research it, and here's my results.
