I watched Floyd Landis win the 2006 Tour de France with an epic solo breakaway on Stage 17 over 4 mountain passes. Then came news of his positive test for synthetic testosterone. I wanted to believe he earned his victory honestly, but I needed proof.
I wrote an open letter to Floyd offering to pay him $100,000 to take a polygraph test covering the 2006 Tour de France and his alleged use of banned drugs. We could agree to the questions beforehand. After the test I would make the video and results available on the net for free.
His handlers said they would consider the offer but never responded after the initial contact. Years later, Landis admitted to doping with not only testosterone but HGH and EPO as well. He lied to fans who donated nearly $1 million to his defense.
