LindowsOS computers have been available from TigerDirect and selling in large quantities. Recently Microsoft stepped up financial incentives to impede LindowsOS sales there.
Microsoft's latest offer to TigerDirect is extremely lucrative: unheard of discounts on Windows XP, allowing them to sell it for just $50 to all past LindowsOS computer buyers. They're also paying TigerDirect to collect market research on LindowsOS buyers to figure out how to counter this threat to their monopoly.
The only reason Microsoft is offering such treatment to TigerDirect is because of their relationship with Lindows.com. Once they cease that relationship, they can expect Microsoft to revert to their previous style of business. LindowsOS is a competitive threat to Microsoft — which is exactly why they're offering special pricing to LindowsOS users.
