The CEO of a large enterprise with over $1 billion in annual revenues visited our offices. He had no experience with Linux — the only thing he knew was that Linux was 'supposed to be' more stable, secure and affordable than Microsoft. He came himself rather than sending his IT department because 'IT departments often don't like change.'
I let him perform the installation. He did it in under 10 minutes with no help. He was blown away — his words. He emailed himself a Word business plan and an Excel forecast, opened them in LindowsOS, made changes, and confirmed they opened fine back on his XP machine.
He told me migrating away from Microsoft not only appeared to be a real possibility, but something they should do right away. My challenge to all CEOs: commit to becoming Microsoft-free by this time next year. It would not have been possible a year or two ago, but today this is VERY real and doable. You won't regret it. I promise.
