Lindows.com 2001 Wrap-up

First off, I have to apologize for not releasing our Sneak Preview as we talked about doing by the end of December. We're very close, but unfortunately an issue came up. Microsoft Corporation filed a lawsuit against us claiming that people would confuse our product LindowsOS with their product Windows XP Professional/Home. We don't believe computer users will confuse our products in any way.

Dealing with a lawsuit can be a distraction — especially for a small company — but we're committed to our goal and we won't allow this issue to derail us. We formed Lindows.com just 5 months ago with the intention of bringing choice to the computing world. I'd ask for a bit extra patience during this time.

We have launched our Insider program — it's a way for those who care passionately about what we're doing to give us all the assistance they can. We still plan on selling the first version of LindowsOS in early 2002. Here's to a great 2002 with lots of choice!

Hunting for the X-File Ghost

AI will soon rule the world. It will decide if you paid your taxes, qualify for a mortgage, whether your kid is admitted to university, if someone is eligible for parole, if you've been naughty on social media, etc. EVERYTHING. But what happens if it's WRONG? Here's an unbelievable and ominous situation where a cybersecurity company publishes a report stating an American company was part of a Chinese cybercriminal organization. The story spread around the world. One enormous problem: the software they claim as evidence doesn't exist, but nobody bothered to research it. No news site. No security companies. Nobody. Well, I decided to research it, and here's my results.
