The Phone Will Never Be The Same

Today we're announcing Always On-Call — someone to call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for LindowsOS support. One flat fee for a year of support at a fraction of other options. Lindows.com is the first to offer this high level of support to desktop Linux users.

I also have a fun outside interest — a new company called SIPphone. These phones plug into a broadband Internet connection and use the SIP protocol. You can make calls to any other SIPphone with absolutely no per-minute or monthly fee. Right now, extended families are giving a SIPphone to each family member to keep in touch. College students can talk to Mom or Dad anytime for free. SIPphone is currently selling two SIPphones for $129.

I believe SIPphone opens the door to a monumental shift in communication, when voice calls will begin using the Internet as the primary transport, just as instant messaging and email already do.

Hunting for the X-File Ghost

AI will soon rule the world. It will decide if you paid your taxes, qualify for a mortgage, whether your kid is admitted to university, if someone is eligible for parole, if you've been naughty on social media, etc. EVERYTHING. But what happens if it's WRONG? Here's an unbelievable and ominous situation where a cybersecurity company publishes a report stating an American company was part of a Chinese cybercriminal organization. The story spread around the world. One enormous problem: the software they claim as evidence doesn't exist, but nobody bothered to research it. No news site. No security companies. Nobody. Well, I decided to research it, and here's my results.
